Bandit Ranch Rehab

Founded: 2014
President: Hayley Hessln
Expertise: Raccoon rehabilitation, care, and release

We are a tiny Not-For-Profit organization in Saskatoon, Canada, and we raise and rehabilitate orphaned and injured raccoons.

Hayley Hesseln incorporated Bandit Ranch Rehab in 2014 as a not-for-profit organization for the purpose of rehabilitating orphaned and injured raccoons.  In 2015, BRR got charitable status and is now able to issue tax receipts for charitable donations.

Hayley started rehabbing raccoons in 2013 with seven cubs, and by the fall of 2016 had raised and released over 100 animals.

The orphans start to arrive in April where they are fed special milk replacement formula from Fox Valley Nutrition.  At about 21 days their eyes and ears begin to open.  It’s not long after that they are introduced to soft foods.  They gradually move from a crate with a heating pad to a larger cage with straw and water and eventually outdoors where they can learn to climb and eat wild foods.

Our volunteers help to release the raccoons in family groups on private land that has suitable raccoon habitat, meaning it has forested areas and lots of water.
